Brittany Miller's passion for gymnastics has been there from a young age. Growing up in Havail, Pennsylvania about 45 minutes away from Philadelphia, opened her eyes to collegiate gymnastics and she fell in love with the sport in college. Competing at the University of Nebraska allowed her to excel as a collegiate gymnast. Now, as an assistant coach at Temple University, Miller uses her experiences to guide and inspire the next generation of gymnasts.

“I really fell in love with gymnastics in college,” Miller said. “I had amazing coaches, ” Miller said.

Miller's coaching style is a mixture of discipline and tough love. She recognizes the struggles some student athletes face and sees it as an opportunity for them to take out their frustrations on the mat.

“I also think just finding compassion and empathy with what they're going through each day, being student athletes, not all only wanting to compete at the highest level, but also you know excel in the classroom.” Miller said.

Balancing mental and physical health is a key component to Miller's team bringing their A game to the mat.

As an assistant coach Miller's main role is the vault event, ensuring that the gymnasts train to enhance their development. She also manages social media content, travel, meals and team apparel. Its wide range of skills contributes to her leadership role of being an assistant coach.

“I think just being here at Temple for the first year and understanding what it means to be “Temple tough” and what it means to be an owl, creating a strong mentality for our student athletes and appreciating what those did before me helped build this program.” Miller states.

Along with her role as a coach, her main goal is to help the team to succeed and win some titles. She hopes to break some individual and team records.

“We're hosting a conference this year at the Liacouras Center… so you know hopefully we bring home that team trophy

Miller's most rewarding experience of being a coach surpasses just winning titles and breaking records.

“I think the most rewarding part is to see their excitement after a great turn or great meet or even great event.” Miller says. “But I also love seeing the gymnasts grow as people beyond training. As they grow I get to see what they do after graduating, like attending their graduation and watching them do other things, like getting married and having kids, just being a part of them as a whole and not just a gymnast.”

Through her commitment to hard work, dedication, and empathy Coach Miller will continue to build a successful career in gymnastics with a hardworking team that is working towards success.
